About Munster Church

Serving Munster and area since 1823

On Sunday, 28 October 2017 we celebrated our 194th anniversary of the Munster Church congregation.  We celebrated working and helping others, and sharing our faith on our journey toward our bicentennial in 2023.

In anticipation of our 200th anniversary I am putting out a request.
If you have any early photos of Munster United Church or our earlier Munster Methodist Church, I would really appreciate being able to borrow your photos
 to scan them.
I would love to be able to display some early photos of the church – exterior and interior – in our bicentennial year.

Your photo could be from a picnic, Sunday School pageant, Sunday School graduation/year end closing, concert, church supper, fund raiser, arrival of a new minister, final day of a minister, anniversary, church special activity, christening, wedding, or anything else you might think of or been part of or at.  I would borrow your photos, scan them, and return them to you.  You don’t have to worry about having too many photos or too few, they are all important.  I will decide which ones could be best for any celebratory presentation.  Whether you have photos in an envelope, shoe box, or album, I am certain I can handle them without any damage.  I can also handle negatives and slides.

You can contact me using this page.

I have another project that I will be launching in a few months.  Keep an eye out here for details at that time.

About Us

Munster United Church is located in Munster, Ontario close to the crossroads.  Our congregation started in 1823 with the first people gathering to worship on a regualr basis. In not too many years we will be celebrating the 200th anniversary of the founding of our congregation.

We are half of the Ashton-Munster Pastoral Charge with our sister church, Ashton United.

Our mailing address is 2881 Munster Road, Munster, ON, K0A 3P0.

The church office for the Ashton-Munster Pastoral Charge is located in Munster at the church.  The telephone number or the office is 613 838-3047.  Note that the office is not staffed full time.  The answering machine is checked regularly.

Our Contact Us pages offer the choice of sending an email message to a contact at Munster United Church, a contact from Ashton United Church, the minister, and the webmaster.

We operate with a Church Council instead of the traditional United Church structure of Elders, and Stewards and Trustees.  All the roles and responsibilities of the three traditional groups are covered by members of the Church Council.  Church Council meets regularly to deal with day-to-day activities and planning future events.

We worship Sunday mornings.  Our service time alternates weekly (with Ashton United Church) between 9:30 and 11:00 am.  Becoming used to alternating times is not difficult.  Once one is accustomed to the alternating times, it becomes second nature.  To make it easier to know times and to help one not have to write them down, they are conviently located on our Worship Page in the What’s On menu.  Use this Link or the shortcut on the right side of this page.  We have an active Sunday School and Youth Group.

You’ll find a brief history of our church and congregation on our Munster Church History page.

Munster United Church is also on Facebook.

PLEASE NOTE:  Munster United Church is not affiliated with the Munster Union Cemetery.  The only connection is Munster United Church opens the church for the Munster Union Cemetery Board to hold their annual commemorative service in late August.  If you wish to send mail for theMunster Union Cemetery, use the address:

Discover Your Community Church

Munster United Church is a community church.  We feel we are an integral participant in our community.  We recognize we are involved with many families: our church family, our community family, and our extended community family.  While we cannot be everything to everyone, we work at helping others in need, supporting worthy causes when possible, participating in community events, and enriching the lives of those in our various families.  We offer more than just Sunday worship time.

If you are in need or looking for one of the following, join us or contact us:
– a quiet moment to reflect,
– to make new friends,
– a place to worship,
– to contribute some of your talent and/or skills,
– to sing more,
– to enjoy the beauty of our stain glass windows and the story they contain,
– to listen to the music,
– to enjoy fellowship and goodies following a worship service,
– to enjoy being part of the Wednesday morning Coffee Break gatherings,
– to learn more and gain more insight about things through Bible Study,
– to have some time just listen to music while the choir is rehearsing,
– to support your community church financially to help it take on more,
– to volunteer with a church project or activity.
